Home Made Sunscreen, Not as dangerous as "they" tell you.

You know something is coming down the pipe when you wake up one morning only to discover the daily news headlines about the Government trying to save your life once again, by warning you with a media campaign about homemade sunscreen and how dangerous it is, so if you are like me, you spend your entire morning looking for the cancer causing chemicals and ingredients like benzene, and oxybenzone in the homemade one you created specifically for your family, to avoid all of the harmful chemicals, but for the life of you, you just can’t seem to locate it?

It's the same old song and dance.

It comes as no surprise that this campaign is being launched now as the attack on Canada's Natural Health Care products continues, but more interestingly, as the awareness of the people is increasing seismically all over the world, and as they are becoming aware of the risks and dangers of using the typical corporate brands, of not only sunscreen, but many different products. By realizing, and utilizing safer at home alternatives, it actually is just cutting into corporation's bottom line.

They know we are on to them, and we have been for a while, and collectively, we are paving the way to a more healthful, natural, educated, and empowered way of living life, without corporate greed at the helm. Our values are shifting as a collective, our way of life is shifting as a collective, and I couldn't be more proud of how far we have come in what feels like a lifetime, knowing in hindsight, it hasn't truly been that long.

We will continue to move forward without “their” permission, and watch as they desperately try to regain control of the old narrative by scaring people back to the old model of dis-ease and “for your own protection ”governance.

So, that is why I wanted to offer you my proven sunscreen recipe that I use as a part of my Organic Harmony Healing Naturals Blends, to make a safe alternative for your whole family, without the white filmy residue.

Did you know that all of the organic ingredients in a home made sunscreen offer some form of an SPF factor?

So what are the organic ingredients that can be used in your sunscreen and their SPF Factors?

Carrot Seed Oil - SPF 40

Raspberry Seed Oil - SPF 25-50 (depending on how much used)

Wheat Germ Oil - SPF 20

Avocado Oil - SPF 15

Coconut Oil - SPF 8

Olive Oil - SPF 8

Macadamia Nut Oil - SPF 6

Almond Oil - SPF 5

Jojoba Oil - SPF 4

Soy Bean Oil - SPF 10

Shea Butter - SPF 4-6

Coco Butter - SPF 15

Beeswax - SPF 15

Non-Nano Zinc Oxide - SPF 2-20 (depending on how much you use) - You want Non Nano as it won't be absorbed into the skin and will remain on the surface for protection.

This recipe will make about 8 oz. of home made sunscreen for you and your family.

Things you will need:

A 500mL mason jar with lid, a medium sized sauce pan with water, measuring cups, a small whisk or popsicle stick, and Containers with lids.

(You can use 2 - 4oz containers, 1-8oz container, or 4 -2oz containers).

Recipe:

1/2 Cup Almond Oil or Jojoba Oil (My favorites)

1/4 Cup of Coconut Oil

1/4 Cup of Beeswax

2 Tbsp. of Non Nano Zinc Oxide (Do not inhale the powder).

1 Tsp Raspberry Seed Oil (Optional)

1 Tsp. Carrot Seed Oil (Optional)

2 Tbsp. of Shea Butter or Coco Butter

Any essential oils you'd like to include.  I use Lavendar essential oil for the skin benefits.  I also add a tiny bit of Coconut Extract or Vanilla Extract for a beautiful beach scent.

(Never use a Citrus Essential Oil as they increase your skin's sun's sensitivity)

Instructions:

1. Fill a medium saucepan with a couple of inches of water ad place over medium heat.

2. Combine all of the ingredients (EXCEPT ZINC OXIDE) in the mason jar

3. Put a lid on the jar, loosely, and place in the pot with water.

4.  As the water heats up, the ingredients in the jar will start to melt.  Shake or stir occasionally.

When all of the ingredients are fully melted, add in the Zinc Oxide, stir well and pour into your containers.

5. Stir a few times as it cools to make sure the zinc oxide in incorporated.

6. Store at room temperature

Note:

- This sunscreen is not waterproof

- Vitamin E Oil is another beautiful addition to this recipe

- Add more beeswax to make it thicker, or less to make it more creamier.

The beauty of this recipe is that you will be able to play with the ingredients until you get the right fit for you and your family.

Nature becomes more amazing to me by the day as we remember how it provides all of the nourishment, protection, and detoxification we need on a daily basis.

and by understanding that what you put on your body, lives IN your body.
And isn’t there enough junk to get rid of and worry about?
